18 Common Phone Problems And How To Fix Them

1. The device prompts that the memory is insufficient

If the storage space is insufficient, the first thing you need to do is to delete redundant files and APPs that you don’t use or need anymore. You can also purchase an external chip memory card and move your media files to the new memory card.

2. There Is A System Or Program Error On the Device

Solution 1: First, perform a simple screen calibration and turn off the mobile phone. Then take out the battery, and let the mobile phone stand for about five minutes or leave it overnight for testing.

7. Unable To Turn On The Phone

If you’re able to turn on the phone but it only shows a black screen, then it might be a problem with your OS that needs to checked at a phone repair specialist.

8. The Phone Frequently Crashes and Restarts

9. Battery Draining Too Fast

Such problems may be caused by poor system software stability or battery consumption of mobile phones

Solution 3: Most Battery will only last for 2-3 years, the more you charge it, the faster it deteriorate. Replace the faulty battery with a new battery to test.

10. Unable To Download Or Install Any App

This problem usually occurs when the phone settings are configured to prevent software installation; the Playstore or Appstore is not linked to any account; the app is not in a format supported by the device; there is no free storage space to install the software.

Solution 1: Set phone settings to allow installation of software or allow installation of software from location sources

Solution 2: Register an account in the corresponding Playstore or Appstore and download the software.

Solution 3: Download the software used by the corresponding phone operating system, such as Android is the apk installation package, iOS is the ipa installation package.

Solution 4: Delete redundant files and software to increase storage space.

11. Unable To Connect To The Internet

This problem occurs when the mobile Internet access point is incorrect or the mobile phone SIM card is not enabled for Internet access. The poor signal may also cause the inability to access the Internet.

Solution 1: Check the signal quality of the current area. If is due to bad or weak signal, move to a new area.

Solution 2: Call your cellular providers to check whether the relevant functions are enabled for your line.

Solution 3: Reconfigure the parameters of the mobile Internet access point in case you were accidentally disconnected.

12. Unable To Connect To WIFI / Unable To Access The Internet After Connecting To WIFI

The failure to connect to WIFI is because there are too many users connected to the current hotspot, and you cannot join a channel that is already full.  Restart the router or change the password to kick out some users to make space for you to join.

If you cannot access the Internet after connecting to WIFI, it is generally because the router fails to dial up to access the network correctly. Try to reset the router and dial to access the network again.

13. The Camera Cannot Be Used/ Camera Is Not Working

You can back up the data first, and then restore the phone to the factory settings. If it doesn’t work, it may be that the camera’s cable is damaged or the camera is loose because the phone was accidentally dropped. You can take it to the after-sale service to replace a camera for testing; in a more serious case, It may be that the IC on the camera mainboard is damaged.

14. The Phone Cannot Be Charged

There are many reasons why the mobile phone cannot be charged. You can do process of elimination according to the following methods:

Solution 1: Replace the original charger of the same model to test first. if it can be charged, it may be that the original charger was broken.

Solution 2: Replace phone battery with a new one. If it can be charged, then original battery was damaged.

Solution 2: If you can’t replace the charger, you can try to back up the data, then restore the phone to factory settings, and then recharge to test. if you could charge after resting, then it was caused by a system error.

If it can’t be solved after trying the above methods, it may be a problem with the mobile phone itself. It is recommended to take it to the mobile phone after-sales service center for repair.

15. The iPhone Randomly Black Screen, But I can Still Receive Incoming Call

This situation is usually caused by the system crash. You can press and hold the home button and the power button at the same time for about 10 seconds to force restart the phone until you see the Apple logo. You can go to the after-sales service to check whether it is a problem with the display screen of the mobile phone. An overworked CPU processor can also be cause, close any unused apps when using the iPhone,  as to avoid too many programs running in the background and cause a black screen of death.

16. Phone Go Into Safe Mode

The reason why the phone appears to enter safe mode may be due to the volume key pressed when it is turned on, just simply restart the phone to troubleshoot the problem. If you can’t solve it, you can try to restore the factory settings or update the system firmware again. 

Another cause might be a damaged volume key, this is usually caused by water or fall damage.

17. How To Force Restart The Phone If It Crashes?

Apple: Press and hold the power button + HOME button at the same time for about 10 seconds

Samsung, Xiaomi, Meizu, Huawei: Press and hold the power button for more than 10 seconds

HTC, Sony: Press and hold the volume up + power buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds

NOKIA: Press and hold the volume down + power button at the same time for about 10 seconds

18. How To Turn On Mobile Hotspot?

iOS system

a) Open settings, find personal hotspot, turn on

 

b) Set the “wireless LAN” password

 

Android system

 

a) Open settings, select more wireless connections, find Portable Wi-Fi hotspot, enable

 

b) Set username and password
